The Cape Coral Yacht Club, established in 1962, has been a cornerstone of the community. It gained fame in 1966 when featured in The Fat Spy with Jayne Mansfield. Over the years, it faced major challenges, including Hurricane Irma in 2017, which destroyed the pool and building, and Hurricane Ian in 2022, leading to the demolition of key structures.
Most recently, the Tiki Bar and Grill was lost to a fire in May 2024. Despite its setbacks, the Yacht Club remains a beloved part of Cape Coral’s history.
